I know you bring your heart and soul forward to honor other worthy people, but do you do this for yourself? It’s time to learn the essential elements you need to honor your deepest truth and connect with your inner alchemist as we explore the letter “H” in our A to Z alchemy series.
The first and most important tool is honesty. Hiding from or ignoring the way you feel won’t protect you. It can prevent you from gathering the help and information you need to feel as healthy and whole as possible.
Bringing your awareness to what you are dealing with and how you feel from the inside out is incredibly empowering. Give yourself total permission to actually know how you feel.
Ask yourself: How DO you feel physically, emotionally and spiritually?
Write your answers out. Journal about how you feel, when you feel it, what helps, what hurts, and any patterns of thoughts, feeling and behaviors you might notice. The idea here is to just get something down on paper that can help you better understand your own experience. Don’t judge yourself or your writing. Even jotting down a few words can make a difference as you learn to honor your deepest truth.
Sometimes words are not enough. Noticing what types of music strike a chord in you can prove deeply insightful. If you are musically inclined, actually singing or playing an instrument can bring you closer to your inner life. Writing poetry, drawing, painting, sculpting with simple clay or even expressing yourself through creative movement can provide a wealth of information about issues that may have been locked inside.
Now that you know honesty is an essential requirement for opening the pathways for communication with your truest self, you’re ready for some soul work on learning to honor your deepest truth from one of my teachers, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes:
“One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul.”
“The wild nature has a vast integrity to it. It means to establish one’s territory, to find one’s pack, to be in one’s body with certainty and pride regardless of the body’s gifts and limitations, to speak and act in one’s own behalf, to be aware, alert, to draw on the innate feminine powers of intuition and sensing, to come into one’s cycles, to find what one belongs to, to rise with dignity, to retain as much consciousness as possible. ~Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés
A powerful tip on choosing friends and lovers who can help honor your deepest truth:
“Having a lover/friend who regards you as a living growing criatura, being, just as much as the tree from the ground, or a ficus in the house, or a rose garden out in the side yard… having a lover and friends who look at you as a true living breathing entity, one that is human but made of very fine and moist and magical things as well… a lover and friends who support the criatura in you… these are the people you are looking for. They will be the friends of your soul for life. Mindful choosing of friends and lovers, not to mention teachers, is critical to remaining conscious, remaining intuitive, remaining in charge of the fiery light that sees and knows.”
